BRIDGTON-LAKE REGION ROTARY CONTINUES THE HOLIDAY SPIRIT BY SUPPORTING THE ORGOS AT BEAR MOUNTAIN INN WITH FREE HOLIDAY PARTY.

The Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club is excited to support Rotarian Nicholas Orgo and his family in celebrating their first anniversary as the new owners of the Bear Mountain Inn (BMI) in South Waterford.  This celebration is a Free Holiday Party on Sunday, December 10th from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Bear Mountain Inn.  The event is Open to the Public to say Thank You and to show their appreciation of the community's support and share their love of the holidays.

This fun-filled holiday-themed day will feature family favorite activities such as a meet and greet with Santa, cookie decorating, holiday crafts and more! Holiday snacks and refreshments are provided by BMI. Bar services are also available for purchase.

In addition to general “run around” support to the BMI staff, Rotarians from the Bridgton-Lake Region Club will host fun decorating activities for both kids and adults.  “We Rotarians love the Holiday spirt in the Lake Region and this event will only add to that”, remarked Rotarian Aaron Hagan, who is past president of the Rotary Club and is coordinating participation of the Rotarians with the Orgos.

The Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) is administering the Domestic Trade Grant Program on behalf of the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) and is urging municipal officials to share this opportunity with qualifying businesses within their communities.

The program, geared toward assisting Maine businesses sell more goods and services throughout the U.S., will award roughly $6 million in grants through two competitive rounds.  Depending on the size of the business or the level of collaboration being proposed in the application, grants will range from $10,000 to $250,000.

Funding for the program is limited to businesses and industries that were impacted by the pandemic and for activities that will increase access to markets and expand sales.  Categories of businesses eligible for funding include: (1) agriculture; (2) clean energy; (3) construction; (4) seafood and aquaculture; (5) forestry and forest products; (6) information services; (7) logistics, including transportation and warehousing; (8) manufacturing; and (9) retail, including wholesale.

The deadline for applying for the first round is 11:59 p.m. on December 15, 2023.  However, businesses will have a second opportunity to apply in early 2024.
